Mary Hammond, Director of Paducah Convention and Visitors Bureau, passed peacefully in her sleep, this past weekend. She was frequently in the The PAPA Gallery making purchases and encouraging our artists. Our President, Dutch Thurman, had the pleasure to visit with her Thursday when she came into the gallery, and had the following to say:

Thursday, as she was making her last purchase, we discussed her plans for retirement, and her anticipation of a new lifestyle, beginning August 3rd.

Not enough can be said about her successful work at the CVB, promoting Paducah to Kentucky, the Nation, and the World.  Paducah is now known as a destination for people of all walks of life!

At PAPA Gallery, we will miss her frequent visits, waves and smiles, and most of all, her encouragement to pursue making of our art.

Our condolences to her family, friends, and each one touched by her life.

Most sincerely, Dutch Thurman, President of PAPA Gallery
