Martha has this to say about her journey as an artist:
I wanted to paint earlier in life and I did complete several paintings on my own. However, due to obligations to family and work, painting was shelved. My return to painting was at the Paducah School of Art in 2012 but was short-lived due to health issues. Tommy Fletcher’s Art Class at Concord United Methodist Church saw my return in 2013.
Painting is my therapy. It helps me relax. Portraits are my specialty, with oil and pastels being my favorite mediums. I have exhibited at the Woman’s Club Show, the McCracken County Fair, and the Mayfield Ice House. My paintings are included in several local homes and collections.
My awards include:
1st Place Pastels (non-professional) 2014
2nd Place Oils (non-professional) 2014
Viewers Choice – McCracken County Cultural Arts
Purple Ribbon in Pastels
Blue Ribbon in Pastels at McCracken County Fair
I am currently a member of the Paducah Area Painters Alliance and the McCracken County Homemakers.
Martha’s show will be up for the month of September. Be sure to come in and see it in person and enjoy the rest of PAPA’s exciting current Members Show.
