Are you a midnight raider? The subject of this painting seems to be as he peruses the contents of the open refrigerator. In “Late Night Snack,” artist Ryan Robertson allows the light from inside to illuminate all the pertinent aspects we need to draw our own conclusions about what’s happening. The fridge seems well stocked and the cat a patient and loving companion. The floor appears smooth and cool on bedtime feet and you might wonder if the escaping frigid air is a welcome respite from a warm summer night or is adding shivers to a cool one. This month the Challenge Phrase for PAPA artists was Painting at Night and we have an intriguing exhibit full of different versions of nocturnal activity.
