You can see the fun we have and energy it brings when we talk about ART from the photos shared on our PAPA Facebook/Instagram, and on our website:  HERE WE ARE!  🙂 We will keep you posted the best we can, and we hope you will share with us when you are able!

MORE WAYS TO SHARE WITH MEMBERS

1) Visit the gallery when you are downtown to view artwork, and meet, talk, and paint with the docent for the day.  While you are there, check to see if there are any new ART books in our extensive LIBRARY to help or inspire you – available to check out.

2) Paint with the ‘Tuesday Group’ artists – bring your paints and join Sandi and crew every Tuesday during open hours.

3) Volunteer to demo – promote your art, make new contacts, and draw customers! Set up indoors in the front window, or outside, if the weather permits. Bring your own paintings/prints/items to sell (A 10% commission rate applies – just write it up as a donation). Demos can be at a time you schedule, or impromptu, and are always welcome!

4) Host or co-host a special event at the Gallery, or volunteer to assist others who are ‘manning the fort’ when we have a special event, or during especially busy times. To schedule an event, and advertise it, use the form to guide you: https://www.thepapagallery.com/submit-your-event/

5) Contribute to our website. Share your Challenge Painting, and Create your PAPA Page so that WE, and YOUR FANS, can get to know you and see a glimpse of your work. Our web visitors may be looking for you on Our Artists Directory page, and they just might find you when they ‘Google’ : your name Artist

You never know when YOUR ART will be the perfect inspiration for an event announcement, or a story-feature on our bulletin board. Be ready to let us bring EXTRA attention to your work by pointing our customers to your PAPA Page!

6) Respond to Emails with any questions, and send art news that you want to share with members or patrons. Our Customer Mailing list has 159 subscribers who are focused on our Gallery and your ART.

You may also use this form to guide you if you want to submit an announcement for distribution to our members or patrons: https://www.thepapagallery.com/submit-your-announcement/

NEWS SUMMARY – JUNE 25, 2024 PAPA BOARD/MEMBER MEETING

PAPA Treasurer

Brenda Foster, our dedicated, diligent, and devoted treasurer will step down as PAPA Treasurer at the end of July. THANK YOU, Brenda, for your 10 years of dedicated, superb service to PAPA. Yes, you deserve a good rest! We were not sure how to go about finding a replacement, but we did… We are blessed and THANKFUL that Board Member, Heather Reid, has volunteered to fill this position and share her bookkeeping skills and experience with PAPA. THANK YOU, Heather!

Our $10 Mini Sale Fundraiser will begin on Friday, November 15, and continue through mid-December, during regular business hours. Riverboat opportunities (MONDAYS: July 1, August 5, October 7) – Report from Jenny Fuller, Executive Director

Viking, a large-capacity cruise line, is scheduled to make several stops in Paducah this summer. The stops are scheduled on the following Mondays: July 1, August 5, and October 7. We’ll keep you posted on any updates!

Downtown merchants, including PAPA Gallery, are encouraged to have special opening hours while they are docked, to take advantage of the higher volume of visitors that are focused on what Paducah has to offer. Jenny, Dutch, and Heather volunteered to greet customers on July 1, and Chad McLaren was on hand outside to demonstrate and invite people to the Gallery. It was a great day, with a few sales, and LOTS of happy customers.

Contact Dutch by Email: “Dutch Thurman” <charlestt@comcast.net> if you are interested in volunteering to be a docent on any of these Mondays. A Riverboat Schedule, which includes all cruise lines, is posted on our bulletin board at the Gallery, and it is now available on our website in the Forms and Documents section. Note that times may vary when it comes to predicting arrival times for vessels traveling on the waterway.

Revised Documents

Revised copies of documents in the New Member Packet are now in use and on file at the Gallery and on our website. ‘Guidelines for Displaying Art’, ‘PAPA General Show Information’, and a ‘New Member Form’ make up the packet.

The ‘PRICE’ paragraph in the ‘General Show Information’ document has been updated.

You can find these revised documents, along with the Riverboat Schedule, on our ‘For Members’ page, where you can

VIEW/DOWNLOAD/PRINT them in this section: ‘Forms and Documents

Banking Matters

Increased costs, including a $100/month rent increase since January 2024, and higher utility rates, coupled with a lower volume of sales so far this year (compared to 2023), have raised concerns about how to cover any shortfalls in future months. We have some funds in reserve that we can draw upon, should the need arise, but the Board will meet again in October to fully evaluate, and address, our financial needs for the remainder of the year.

Next Board Meeting – Tuesday, October 29, 6PM
