Art, specifically drawing, was an important part of my life early on, but my career took a different path. In the years approaching retirement, I found that artistic inspiration again, painting and drawing in the evenings after work. Since I have retired, I have had works included in two exhibitions in St. Louis, Missouri and Illinois galleries in Belleville, Mount Vernon, Carbondale, Marion, and Harrisburg.
I enjoy painting landscapes. I love experimenting with different designs and compositions, trying various styles working in oil, acrylic, watercolor wash, casein, pastel colored pencil, graphite, and charcoal.
I am inspired by the works of J.M.W. Turner, John Constable, Frederic Church, and George Inness, among others. Art is a meditative practice that brings relaxation and enjoyment to me, and I hope others enjoy the resulting paintings and drawings.
I feel fortunate to be part of PAPA and I have learned a lot by watching the other artists here and examining their paintings. I am fortunate to have found—and be a part of—Little Egypt Art Association, Paducah Area Painters Alliance, and Green Root Gallery. I have learned so much from observing the techniques of participating artists. Their work has truly been inspirational.
