Gerry, a resident of Paducah, KY, has been an active artist for 35 years. She works in the Realist tradition. Gerry favors pastels because of their vibrant colors, but also paints in oil and watercolor. She enjoys painting landscapes, still lifes, and portraits of interesting faces collected during her travels around the world.
Though mainly self-taught, she has attended several workshops. These include Cleda Curtis’ Portrait Painting, and Tony Couch’s Watercolor classes. Gerry studies and works with a group of artists each week at the Paducah Area Painter Alliance Gallery, fondly known as The PAPA Gallery. Referring to themselves as the “Tuesday Group”, they paint together and critique each other’s efforts as they strive to improve.
Gerry has been in many exhibitions including: The Women’s Club Art Show, Mayfield Impressions 2000, Ohio Valley Art League, Murray Art League, Yeiser Art Guild, and the French Lick Invitational Art Exhibit. Her work, in addition to The PAPA Gallery, can be seen within collections at: The Paducah Bank, Sola A Bron QA Point, Evansville, IN, McCracken County Fiscal Court and the French Lick Springs Resort.
She received the “Best of Show” award at the Sikeston Art League Exhibit and the Paducah Woman’s Club Annual Art Show and the Bronze Medallion at the French Lick Exhibit 2000.
