For me, art is the process of transcribing my heart and mind by hand to create an image that holds special meaning. My chosen subjects reflect what I love: animals (especially dogs), nature, and family. The strong emotional connection I have to my subjects makes it nearly impossible for me to part with any of the pieces I create for myself; but I do enjoy making art for others that depicts their own loves that have captured their hearts.
Drawing is my favorite method to render my subjects because of the precision in detail that it affords. My media of choice is pen and ink or graphite, but I like creating collage and mixed media pieces as well. I enjoy snapping casual pictures for reference and looking for unique lines, textures, and patterns to inspire and inform future works.
I aspire, one day, to be a painter; until then, I will continue to try to capture, with pen of pencil in hand, all that is in my heart and head.
