There’s beauty to be seen in most everything if you pause long enough to look. PAPA artist Ryan Robertson provides a slice of time to help us look past the discomfort of a sloppy, rainy evening to find the beauty in the scene. In “Nashville at Night” we have time to appreciate the reflected colors on wet surfaces and the distortions of lights from splashes of deeper puddles. We can even enjoy the contrast of a black umbrella and dark clothing of pedestrians crossing the street. You might also imagine the accompanying soundscape of tires moving through water, engines purring, and wiper blades moving rhythmically as if to set a tempo for all to follow. It seems many of you took the time to appreciate this tableau and voted “Nashville at Night” as the people’s choice!
After all the holiday activity, it’s nice to pause for a break and enjoy the way art can transport you to another place and time. Drop by the PAPA Gallery and give yourself a little respite. Ryan has more paintings available to enjoy as do many other PAPA artists. Take some time next time you’re downtown Paducah and simply enjoy art with us!
