Diane Bay Artist and Author
I have been creative all my life. I started thinking of myself as an artist in third grade when I drew a portrait of my sister. I have worked in most mediums; I spent more than a decade as a pastel artist, several years dabbling in watercolor, clay, graphite pencil, and alcohol ink. For the last few years I concentrated on oils. Now I have returned to my roots in pastels, and I am enjoying their richness and ease.
I’ve learned through workshops, webinars and videos, including online Atelier classes and workshops with nationally-known artists Gayle Levée and Kathie Odom. I’ve won a variety of awards, including Second Place Professional, in the 2023 Paducah Woman’s Club Art Show, and Second Place, Painting, in the juried 2022 Murray Art Guild Visual Evidence Show. I have an Associate of Arts degree from the College of DuPage in Illinois. I have also authored a memoir about finding my famous birth mother, the 1970s actress, Karen Black. I currently live in Benton, KY. My husband, Rich, and I, have three adult sons and four grandchildren.
