Greetings art lovers, we hope you’ve had a great summer! The artists at the PAPA Gallery have been busy creating new works and we’re anxious to share them with you.

As we end July it’s time to say goodbye to the pieces we’ve enjoyed the past few months and hang another show with fresh new paintings. This colorful work entitled, Backyard Tour, is by new member Bailey Joyce and is one of the many new artworks awaiting you in this show! You can also see a larger sampling on our website here.

  • In July, the featured exhibit was by Gerry Marcum whose special point of view is always a treat whether she portrays an interesting scene from her world travels or shares an intimate portrait of a well loved face.
  • In August you’ll enjoy the work of Darlene Stephens, so come in to see the full exhibit! By the way, if you miss a featured exhibit, you can always see it on our website here.

  • Your votes for the People’s Choice each month provide great feedback for the artists as well as giving you an opportunity for direct participation. We appreciate you taking time to vote and encourage you to keep it up! Your choice for June was Pisgah Trail Sunset by Diane Bay and for July you chose Reflections by Charles David Alexander.

  • Our June challenge phrase was “Something Underwater” and this painting simply titled Underwater by Sandi Johnson certainly fits the bill while making us all wish we could dip our toes too! By the way, Sandi’s flare for fantasy art will be on full display Labor Day weekend at Dragon Con, the largest multi-genre and pop culture convention focusing on science fiction & fantasy, gaming, comics, literature, art, music, and film in the universe!

  • The July Challenge is “Something You Would Find Downtown.” This painting by Heather Reid entitled One Way unexpectedly captures your attention and is just one of several images of downtown you’ll find on our challenge wall in the back of the gallery. You can also see all the challenge paintings on our website here.

  • In other news, we’ve added a new section on our website to help you keep up with dates of special events such as the annual miniature painting fundraiser or special receptions. Patrons will usually get an email notification to keep you in the know, but anytime you’re curious ‘Special Events & Extended Hours’ postings are listed at the top of every page right under the ‘Contact Us’ button.

All the artists at PAPA appreciate your time when you stop by to share in our mutual enjoyment of art.

We thank you for all your support!
