Harrietta Harper

Having grown up in West Tennessee, Harrietta Harper moved to Kentucky, earned Bachelor and Master degrees in music from Murray State University, and taught public school music in the McCracken County School System in western Kentucky.

After retirement, Harrietta began to paint as another outlet for her love of the fine arts. She has studied with and drawn inspiration from renowned artists Clyde Lawyer of Paducah KY, Mel Garbark of Benton KY, Cleda Curtis of Oran MO, and Julia McKee of Taos NM.

An award winning artist, Harrietta prefers to paint in a loose painterly style with lost edges and varying degrees of realism, often forcing color. Acrylic is her medium of choice.

She is a member of the Paducah Area Painters Alliance, the Mayfield/Graves County Art Guild and the Yeiser Art Center. Her paintings can be seen at the PAPA Gallery in Paducah KY, the Right Angle Frame Shop and Gallery in Paducah, and the Frames and Fine Arts Gallery in Covington TN.
