Into the Storm
The unusual challenge for PAPA artists this month was to paint using only black and white. Brenda Foster's chosen subject seems especially suited for this task in her painting, "Into the Storm." One hardly needs any color to imagine this ship...
Big Eyes
PAPA's featured artist this month is full of surprises and you can always expect them to bring out a smile. Liz Hudson's painting "Big Eyes" is one such painting. Her featured exhibit is generally void of color but her skill in creating thoughtful...
The Beetles
Where do you suppose these little critters are going? PAPA artist Chad McLaren makes you curious in this month's People's Choice painting, "The Beetles." Some of you might wonder if he's channeling another foursome walking over a crosswalk. These...

February 2025 Featured Artist – Liz Hudson
Liz is a very creative and expressive artist, always surprising us with what she decides to do next. She has this to say: As a Charter PAPA Member I am proud to share my work as Featured Artist for the month of February. I am naming my exhibit “A Touch of Color”. Please enjoy, and […]
READ ABOUT
Our Story
In 1991, a small group of Paducah painters realized a common need. They wanted to learn more about fine art and painting. Led by master artist and long-time Paducah resident, the late Clyde H. Lawter Jr, the group began meeting, sharing, learning, and growing!
A short time later, the group incorporated as a non-profit organization and were officially named PAPA – Paducah Area Painters Alliance.
The PAPA Gallery on Broadway opened in 1998, providing the perfect place to show their work and share their stories. Some members of that original ‘charter group’ are still painting and showing their work today, joined by many more artists from our surrounding region. That same spirit of camaraderie exists at PAPA today and we continue to find ways to share art with each other and our community.

Our Purpose
PAPA endeavors to bring together artists to encourage, motivate, educate, and promote them, and to promote the art of painting in particular. A principal goal is to increase sociability and friendship among its members. Whenever resources allow, PAPA will provide a theatre to display member’s art – both in the gallery on Broadway, online on our website, and in the community.
